Cancellation of season
With the recent announcement that the Simcoe Muskoka region has moved into the Grey-Lockdown level of Ontario’s Pandemic Response Framework, the North Simcoe Capitals Executive has made the difficult decision to end the 2020-2021 hockey season as of March 1st, 2021. This decision does mean a stop to all programs in our association.

This was not an easy decision but a necessary one given the level of uncertainty and not knowing the amount of time our Health Unit will be in lockdown. A huge thank you goes out to our executive and volunteers who made this season possible, which allowed us to maintain a safe environment in our most challenging season ever.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our coaches, trainers, timekeepers, referees and managers who made it possible for our association to continue during this difficult time. Your dedication was truly remarkable.

Finally, to our players and parents: We want to thank you for your patience during this unprecedented season and for trusting in our association to deliver a quality experience to the members we service.

The administrative work to wrap up this season is well underway. Refunds are being calculated for any outstanding developmental skates and will be distributed in the near future. We will also schedule a date for jersey drop off once it is safe to do so.

With the 2020-2021 season coming to an end, we are already planning for the 2021-2022 season. We are currently in the process of interviewing potential coaches for our rep program. Our AGM is being planned for May, with details will be shared shortly. While we don’t know exactly what next season will look like yet, we’ll share more information as the situation becomes more clear over the summer.

During the off-season please continue to stay connected through our various social media accounts. As always continue to stay safe and follow protocols so we can be back on the ice together in the fall.

On behalf of our Executive,

Dan Pellarin
NSGHA President
