Sharkfest Recap U18A
What a weekend by these young ladies and everyone who contributed to the weekend.Game 1We started off Friday with a familiar foe, the Barrie Sharks, although it took us the 3rd period to get on the board. We had a great effort from all with Kaylee B. scoring early in the period to lead us to the 1-0 win; assists going to Stella W. and Ellie G. Hannah S. with the shutout.

Game 2
This was a rematch with Brantford who beat us in the Oshawa tournament. We got up and stayed there with a 4-2 win goal scorers where Lila R., Stella W. and Mel D. (2). Assists Lila R.(2) Gabby C.(2) Sydney L., Zoe E., Tia C. and Ellie G.
Game 3 Saturday 1pm puck drop
We went up against Brampton for the 2nd time in 10 days and came away with a 3-1 win goal came from Lila R., Paige S. and Stella W. Helpers were Zoe E., Kaylee B., Makenna W. and Ellie G. Olivia C. posting the win with some big saves early. With a bye to the semi, we were able to have a great night of team bonding and laughs with a team event but with every girl preparing for the morning semi-final game.
Game 4
Semi Finals vs Bluewater with 1 loss on the season we were in for a hard fought battle. And it was early in the 2nd period Leighton T. took the puck from a nice pass by Sydney L. and went hard to the net to get us the lead 1-0. This lasted till 11:23 of the 3rd when Bluewater tied it with a power play goal. With the team still focused, they worked hard and were rewarded with the lead when Leighton got her 2nd of the game with just over 7 minutes to go. Bluewater kept coming but Hannah stood tall with 2 breakaway saves and Paige S. was able to put it away with a empty net goal and a meeting with Brampton in the finals.
Sharkfest Championship
We knew with it being the finals, nothing would be easy even with 2 wins over Brampton the last 2 weeks, and it was not easy. Early in the 1st with Brampton on the power play they got up early and stayed there till late in the 2nd when Stella "Noddles" W. was able to beat the goalie down low over the shoulder with a rocket!!! This happened on the power play with great passing by Tia C. and Kenna W. The game stayed tied with both teams getting power play chances and physical play. With no more goals to come and some timely saves from Hannah S. the team was off to 3 on 3 overtime and winner takes all. After taking a hard hit late in the game and not showing any signs of it Zoe E., with some great forechecking work by Makenna W. and Lexi A. and herself, Zoe got the puck just below the hashmarks and let it go low and for the 2-1 win and U18A Championship.

Congratulations to all the ladies for working hard as a team from the first drop of the puck.
